The Royapettah All Women Police arrested an 18-year-old youth for allegedly threatening a schoolgirl with a knife and assaulting her on Thursday. The police said the youth tried to force the girl to accept his proposal.
The police identified the youth as Surya of Royapettah. He is a functionary of the AIADMK’s youth wing. On Thursday, Surya waylaid the girl and threatened her with a knife. He then slapped her and told her to accept his proposal. Passers-by rushed to her rescue and attempted to overpower Surya, but he escaped. Later, the police arrested him.
