The mantra, usually recited as:
“Om Hleem Baglamukhi Sarvadushtanaam Vaacham Mukham Padam Stambhay Jihvaam Keelay Buddhim Vinaashay Hleem Om Swaha”,
ॐ ह्लीं बगलामुखि सर्वदुष्टानां वाचं मुखं पदं स्तम्भय जिह्वां कीलय बुद्धिं विनाशय ह्लीं ॐ स्वाहा।
It is a mantra which is devoted to Goddess Baglamukhi, one of the ten Mahavidyas (wisdom goddesses). She is symbolically represented as the divine energy that freezes evil words, thoughts, and actions against the devotee.
Spiritually, Baglamukhi embodies mastery of chaos; she attains power not through aggression but through quietness. When there is conflict, she brings silence, where there is poison, be it emotional, mental or even spiritual, she neutralises it.
The imagery around Baglamukhi is highly symbolic. She is usually shown grasping the tongue of a demon, symbolizing the mastery of evil speech and lies. It is not cruelty on her part, it symbolizes the taming of the forces that abuse words and intentions. For those who walk her path, chanting this mantra, is more than a ritual, it is an act of grounding.
