The cybercrime police on Tuesday (February 18, 2025) arrested the vice-principal of a law college in Kolar and two others for allegedly leaking a law exam question paper in the last week of January.

The accused had leaked the Contract Law question paper on WhatsApp and Telegram channels for monetary gain, Bengaluru city police commissioner B. Dayananda said.

Vishwanatha K.N., appointed as the Chairman and member of Vigilance Squad-2, filed a complaint on January 30, following the leak of questions on social media from the Contract-1 paper, even before the exam on January 23 in law colleges across the State affiliated with the Karnataka State Law University (KSLU)

The case was taken up by Cyber Crime Police based on the complaint, who tracked down the accused based on the call record details of the beneficiaries.

During the probe, the investigators allegedly found that the vice-principal’s driver, with the former’s knowledge, transferred the question papers in the latter’s mobile phone to his and then leaked it for monetary gains.

It was also learnt that the student had accessed the question papers the day before the exams from the storage area in the college, copied them and leaked them for money, investigators said.

The cybercrime officials are further investigating to ascertain the possible role of others in the case.
