Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived here on Sunday for a two-day visit to the Union Territory. He arrived at the Pondicherry Airport in an Air Force helicopter from Chennai around 1 p.m.
Lieutenant Governor K. Kailashnathan, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy, Speaker R. Selvam, Home Minister A. Namassivayam, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and BJP chief Selvaganabathy, legislators belonging to AINRC and BJP, Chief Secretary Sharat Chauhan and Director General of Police Shalini Singh were among those present at the airport to receive the Vice President.
President of Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee and Member of Parliament (Lok Sabha) V. Vaithilingam and former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy were also present to receive Mr. Dhankhar.
After his arrival, the Vice President headed to Court Heritage Guest House on Beach Road where he would be staying during his visit. The Lt. Governor would be hosting a dinner for the Vice President on Sunday night.
The first official programme for Mr. Dhankar would be at JIPMER on Monday where he would be addressing faculty and students. On Tuesday, he would interact with faculty and students of the Puducherry University. He would leave Puducherry after this event.
