Uttarakhand Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Premchand Aggarwal resigned on Sunday (March 16, 2025).

His resignation came weeks after the controversy that erupted after his speech in the state budget session in which he has criticized the people of hills and claimed that the State is not just for the ‘pahadis’ (people from hills).

The State government came on backfoot on his remarks after the Opposition attacked the BJP for neglecting and abusing the residents hills.
