A 23-year-old man working with a cab aggregator platform was killed near Lingampally Railway Station on Wednesday night after a confrontation turned violent. Chandanagar police on Thursday arrested four people in connection with the incident, including two women and a minor.
The accused were identified as Neela, Renuka, Chandu, and a minor boy. All four were taken into custody and later remanded to judicial custody.
According to Chandanagar Inspector S Vijai, the victim P Amaresh had gone to a toddy shop near the railway station, where he was confronted by the two women over a past dispute.
The argument escalated, prompting the women to summon their male associates. The men allegedly assaulted Amaresh, while the women also slapped and beat him and fled the spot. He collapsed on the spot and later died.
Police said there was no clear intent to kill, and the incident appeared to be the result of a sudden provocation.
