A student and a teacher escaped with minor injuries after a huge branch of a tree near the Pattupuraykkal temple in Eloor municipality in the district collapsed on Tuesday morning around 8.30 a.m.
Reportedly, the tree was in a dangerous condition, and the municipal authorities had issued a notice to the Devaswom Board to take steps to cut the tree. “Since they have not taken any action, we will take measures to cut the tree,” said Eloor municipal chairperson A.D. Sujil.
Residents said that it was a miracle that a potential fatal incident was averted.
