Two persons died and seven people were injured in a road accident at AS Peta Adda Road in Atmakur mandal of SPSR Nellore district on Thursday (June 5, 2025) morning.
According to the police, an SUV car coming from Marripadu to Nellore side rammed into an auto-rickshaw with tobacco workers coming from opposite side towards Nellorepalem at Hanuman statue near Indian Oil petrol bunk junction at about 6.50 am.
The accident took place as the SUV car driver was unable to control the vehicle while turning at high speed. The autorickshaw driver and a woman worker died on the spot. Another woman worker suffered severe injuries and others had normal injuries.
Two of the injured persons were referred to Nellore GGH, while the rest five were admitted into Atmakur government hospital. The deceased were identified as Daggumati Pulla Reddy (45), the autorickshaw driver, and Shaik Azeema (60) was a tobacco grading worker at Tellapadu.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu expressed grief over the road accident. He said, “It is sad that two agricultural labourers died in a car-auto collision in Atmakur. They died while going to agricultural work for their livelihood.”
Expressing his deepest condolences to the families of the deceased, Mr. Naidu ordered the officials to provide better medical treatment to those who were injured. The district officials have been instructed to stand by the affected families.
Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy also expressed shock over the fatal road accident. He has directed the officials to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured.
