Three people sustained injuries after a mini truck rammed a shop on the busy Mahatma Gandhi Road in Puducherry on Friday (June 6, 2025) at noon.

The injured are being treated for multiple wounds at the Indira Gandhi Government General Hospital. The mini truck had been brought to M.G. Road to unload fruits at the Big Market. The driver, after parking the vehicle, had gone to collect money from the shops, leaving the cleaner behind in the truck.

The cleaner, a juvenile, tried to move the vehicle when an autorickshaw driver sought space to park his vehicle. The driver lost control over the truck and rammed it into a shop on the opposite side, the police said.

According to the police, the juvenile had consumed alcohol and has been arrested. A case will also be registered against the owner of the truck, police said.
