Temple access row: BJP seeks removal of barricades

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) district president M.M.N. Parasurama Raju has demanded the immediate removal of barricades put up by the Forest Department to the road leading to the Bhairava Swamy temple near Simhachalam.

A BJP team from the city visited the temple on Thursday to find out the difficulties devotees faced due to the action of the Forest officials.

Speaking to the media, Mr. Parasurama Raju said: “With vehicular access prevented, devotees are being forced to walk for 1 km on the pebble-ridden road to take darshan. The barricades were erected one-and-a-half-year ago during the YSRCP rule.” He sought immediate removal of the barricades and sought the restoration of full vehicular access up to the temple premises.

BJP district general secretary J. Damodar Yadav, Polimera Srinivasa Rao, Srirangam Dhaneswara Rao, district secretary Nadella Jyothi, Goga Govind Yadav and Mahila Morcha district president Ummidi Sujatha Raj were present.
