In the wake of the red alert, Kozhikode District Collector Snehil Kumar Singh has declared a holiday for schools in Kozhikode district on Monday (June 16, 2025). The order is also applicable to all anganwadis, madrasas, and tuition centres.
Revenue department officials said all village-level rescue units had been asked to remain on alert following the rough weather warning. They also said that local administrators and Revenue squads had already put necessary arrangements in place in landslide-prone areas to handle emergency evacuations.
“Taluk- and district-level emergency helplines and special control rooms will remain active to facilitate emergency communication. As part of safety measures, entry to water tourism destinations and high-risk ecotourism spots will be restricted for a few days,” said a senior Revenue department officer. He also added that a temporary ban on quarrying and all mining activities was currently in force across the district.
On Sunday (June 15, 2025), the water level in most of the rivers witnessed a sudden increase, though no major accidents were reported. Residents living near the Iruvazhinji River were advised to remain alert to the risk of flash floods. Waterlogged roads and inundated fields disrupted life in rural areas around Mukkom.
KSEB officials urged the public to stay vigilant for snapped power lines in flooded fields and to cooperate with ongoing power restoration efforts.
