Spotlight on economic growth rate of 8%


Director of Madra School of Economics N.R. Bhanumurthy on Saturday (March 8) emphasised the need to achieve an economic growth rate of over 8% to ensure economic self-reliance by 2047, in line with the goal of a developed India.

Speaking at the inaugural session of the 41st annual conference of Andhra Pradesh Economic Association at P.B. Siddhartha Arts and Science College in Vijayawada, he suggested implementing frequent updates to statistics at district, State and national levels to design better economic policies that support self-reliance. He also stressed the importance of developing plans to ensure all regions of the country progress equitably and highlighted the critical role of harmonising wealth creation with welfare schemes in building a healthy economic system.

The event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Economic Association chairman L. Krishnamohana Rao, president T.L.N. Swamy, director of the Centre for Economic and Social Sciences (CESS) S. Galab, Siddhartha Academy secretary P. Lakshmana Rao, Siddhartha college principal and conference coordinator M. Ramesh, faculty members and students. The event will conclude on Sunday.
