As many as 5,031 students received their degrees at the 34th convocation ceremony of Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology held here on Saturday.
A total of 4,221 undergraduates, 810 postgraduates, and 79 Ph.D. scholars received their degrees. Among them, 54 students were recognised with gold medals.
‘Fulfil parents’ dreams’
Urging students to make parents their first priority, chancellor Mariazeena Johnson said, “When children respect their parents and fulfil their dreams, they become leaders.”
Highlighting three things that students must keep in mind, she said, “You must rewrite, re-dream, and rethink. Always note down things, it brings clarity. Keep studying even if Ph.D. is the limit.”
Film director Atlee received an honorary doctorate on the occasion.
President of the institution Marie Johnson, vice president Maria Bernadette, vice president J. Arul Selvan, and vice president Maria Catherine Jayapriya were also present at the event.
