A special drive against ganja transportation was conducted at the Visakhapatnam Railway Station on Sunday. It was held on the directions of Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Railways, A.P., B. Satya Yesu Babu and supervised by Superintendent of Railway Police, Vijayawada, Rahul Dev Singh.
Deputy Superintendent of Railway Police P. Ramachandra Rao and Inspector of GRP, Visakhapatnam, Ravi Kumar said that the drive was aimed at curbing illegal transport of ganja through railway premises and it was carried out with the combined assistance of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Railway Protection Force (RPF), Visakhapatnam City Local Police, and Dog Squads from both RPF Waltair Division and Visakhapatnam City Police.
A total of 60 police personnel from GRP, RPF, and city police participated in the drive. Two dog squads from RPF Waltair Division and one from the city police were also part of the team. The total force was divided into three teams and they thoroughly checked all the waiting halls, cloak rooms, parcel offices and all platforms.
