PSG Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (PSG IMSR), the International Center for Public Health (ICPH), Medical Intervention Team (MIT) from Germany, jointly extended health services to vulnerable children through multi-faceted outreach programme, in a landmark initiative aimed at bridging health inequities.
The second-year partnership, formalised at PSG Hospitals, features community outreach, paediatric screening, corrective surgery, and public health education. The initiative is led by Dr. J.S. Bhuvaneswaran, Director PSG Super Speciality Hospitals, Dr. Kezevino Aram, founder of ICPH, Dr. Barun Sarkar, MIT Germany, and Dr. Dayanand A, PSG Hospitals.
The team aims at ‘building a world fit for children, where every child can grow to adulthood in health, peace and dignity.’ The collaboration has resulted in two international healthcare exchanges between Germany and India, the training of over 100 frontline workers, and the screening of 41,424 children across 100 schools for vision and ENT issues. Focused interventions for children with hearing disabilities, including distribution of bi-lateral hearing aids and batteries worth ₹90 lakh, were key highlights. MIT also gifted ₹36 lakh worth of screening equipment for 2024-25.
