Police seize 50 kg of ganja in Rameswaram; arrest 6 men


 

Ramanathapuram district police seized 50 kg of ganja and arrested six men from Rameswaram on Saturday. 

Based on information about ganja being transported to Rameswaram to be smuggled to Sri Lanka, a police team headed by Sub Inspector Vadivel conducted a raid on the shores of Rameswaram fishing harbour.  

As they found a car parked near the harbour, police questioned the people who were on board the car. 

Suspecting their answers, the police inspected the car. During inspection, they found ganja weighing about 50 kg stacked inside bags.  

Seizing the ganja, the team arrested six men – M. Sahayaraj, 34, S. Anthony Adimai, 40 and A. Santhosh Raj, 37, of Thangachimadam, A. Ramachandran, 26, and B. Arthinash, 42, of Rameswaram, and A Sachin, 27, of Puthu Road.
