PM’s Economic Advisory Council Chairman meets CM Revanth

Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy stressed on the importance of cooperative federalism and urged for a balanced and respectful relationship between the Centre and the States.

“Only when the States grow, the nation as a whole can progress,” he said, highlighting the need for decentralised development in a federal structure. He expressed these views when the Chairman of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council, S. Mahendra Dev, paid a courtesy visit to Chief Minister at his residence in Jubilee Hills on Saturday (July 12, 2025).

Expressing concern over the financial strain on the State due to high-interest loans taken in the past, the Chief Minister said that a large portion of Telangana’s revenue was currently being used to service debt rather than funding development projects.

“High interest rates are hampering our development. We are working on strategies to reduce the interest burden and restructure existing loans,” he added.

The meeting, which was also attended by State Finance Department Principal Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania, centred around charting a roadmap for Telangana’s comprehensive development and addressing critical financial challenges facing the State.

The Chief Minister outlined his government’s vision to transform Telangana, with special focus on urban infrastructure, employment generation and expansion of the industrial and service sectors. “We are moving forward, intending to provide better job opportunities for our youth by creating robust urban infrastructure across the state, particularly in and around Hyderabad,” he said.

Prof. Mahendra Dev appreciated the State government’s efforts and assured that the Advisory Council would extend necessary support and policy guidance for Telangana’s development journey.
