A day after voicing dissent over his exclusion from the CPI(M) State committee, senior party leader A. Padmakumar has softened his stance against the party leadership.
Speaking to the media on Tuesday, Mr. Padmakumar acknowledged that airing his grievances publicly was a mistake and expressed his willingness to accept any disciplinary action from the party. He announced his decision to participate in the district committee meeting and clarified that his emotional response stemmed from his deep attachment to the party and his unwavering dedication to its cause.
“I realise now that voicing my criticism in public was a mistake. It should have been addressed within the party. Once I understood this, I accepted responsibility for my actions and will abide by any decision the party takes in this regard. As human beings, we all make mistakes, but the CPI(M) has the strength to correct the mistakes committed by its cadre,” he said.
Regarding his meeting with CPI(M) district secretary Raju Abraham, Mr. Padmakumar expressed satisfaction that the party had reached out to him. He also revealed that several political leaders, including P.V. Anwar, the State coordinator of the All India Trinamool Congress, had contacted him following the controversy.
Reaffirming his commitment to the party, Mr. Padmakumar dismissed the BJP leaders who visited his home as “political beggars”. He accused the BJP of attempting to gain publicity by associating with his name, claiming that their visit and subsequent photo session at his house in his absence were mere political stunts.
Mr. Padmakumar had left the CPI(M) State conference venue in Kollam on Sunday (March 9, 2025) without attending the public meeting. He later posted a cryptic message on Facebook, which read “cheating, betrayal, and disrespect, what remains after 52 years”. The message, however, was deleted shortly after.
The next day, however, he yet again come out in the open, voicing dissent over his non-inclusion in the State committee.
