A major fire broke out in a mattress godown at Kalamassery near Kochi city leaving the building fully gutted on Saturday (March 8, 2025) around 10 a.m.
No causality has been reported so far. The fire has reportedly spread to nearby buildings. Vehicles parked in the godown have been completely gutted. A 220kV Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) power line has also collapsed after getting caught in the fire. The snapped line also hampered the timely arrival of the fire engines.
Fire fighters and tenders from multiple fire stations are fighting to douse the fire.
