An IndiGo flight from Guwahati to Chennai ran low on fuel and was diverted to Bengaluru on Thursday night.
The flight with 168 passengers departed from Guwahati airport at 4.40 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Chennai at 7.40 p.m. “But due to congestion at Chennai airport, the flight was hovering for some time, and it began to run low on fuel. The pilot decided to go to Bengaluru airport. He alerted the Bengaluru Air Traffic Control saying, ‘Mayday Fuel’ (that he was very low on fuel) and should be given priority landing. The flight landed around 8.15 p.m. at Bengaluru safely,” an airline source said.
The crew was subsequently changed and the flight again left Bengaluru two hours later and landed at Chennai airport around 11.15 p.m.
