Southern Railway has announced that the Ernakulam – Velankanni – Ernakulam express trains ( 16361 / 16362) will be operated with LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches. The trains are currently being operated with conventional rakes. The conversion from conventional rake to LHB coaches is to enhance safety and ensure a comfortable journey for passengers.
The Ernakulam Junction – Velankanni express will run with LHB coaches from Ernakulam with effect from July 7. In the return direction, the train from Velankanni with LHB coaches will run with effect from July 8. Consequent to the conversion to LHB rakes, the composition of the trains will be revised.
It will run with one AC two-tier coach, three AC three-tier coaches, eight sleeper class coaches, four general second class coaches, one second class coach (Divyangjan friendly) and one luggage cum brake van, a press release from the Tiruchi Railway Division said on Sunday.
