Karnataka Labour Minister, and district in charge for Dharwad, Santosh Lad on Saturday (June 14, 2025) met the family of Hussainsab Kalas whose body was recovered in a drain on Friday (June 13, 2025) and handed over a compensation cheque to the family members.
Hussainsab Kalas (58) was washed away in an overflowing drain at Nekar Nagar in Hubballi on Wednesday night (June 11, 2025) when the city witnessed heavy downpour. The victim was on his motorcycle along with a pillion rider and was trying to cross an inundated bridge, when he lost control and fell into the overflowing drain. While the pillion rider was rescued, Hussainsab had gone missing and his body was recovered on Friday (June 13, 2025) after two-day joint operation led by police, fire brigade and municipal staff.
On Saturday (June 14, 2025), Minister Lad visited the family, which resides at Beerband Oni in Hubballi and consoled the family members. He then handed over the order on the compensation and the cheque to the family members. He was accompanied by MLA N.H. Konaraddi, Additional DC Geeta C.D., Assistant Commissioner Shalam Hussain, Hubballi tahsildar K.R. Patil and others.
