New Delhi: With barely two days to go for Trump’s tariffs to return, Indian and American officials are engaged in seeking to arrive at common ground on customs duties.Although the prospects of an early trade deal remain dim with USTR Jamieson Greer saying that further talks are required, officials are not ruling out the possibility of a last-minute breakthrough, although the next round of talks are scheduled to begin on Aug 25.“We continue to speak with our Indian counterparts, we’ve always had very constructive discussions with them,” Greer said in a TV interview on Monday.Talks are stalemated over the issue of farm tariffs and India’s reluctance to allow genetically modified soybean and maize, among other things.
