Israel and Iran opened a new chapter in their long history of conflict when Israel launched a major attack with airstrikes early Friday (June 13, 2025), setting off explosions in the Iranian capital, Tehran.
Israel said it targeted nuclear and military facilities, killing some of Iran’s top military and nuclear scientists.

The attack comes amid escalating tensions over Iran’s rapidly advancing nuclear programme, which Israel views as a threat to its existence.
