Four persons arrested for possession of explosive materials

Four persons have been arrested by the Valangaiman police on charges of ‘illegal possession of explosive materials’.

According to an official release, the Valangaiman police received information that ‘country bombs’ were being prepared at Melavidaiyal area in Valangaiman. Subsequently, a team of police personnel led by the Valangaiman Inspector of Police, Muthulakshmi, conducted a search at Melavidaiyal where they found four persons engaged in the preparation of ‘country bomb’.

All of them – Rajadurai of Maancheri, Melavidaiyal, on whose land the illegal activity was identified, Surya of Madakudi, Vishal of Maancheri, Melavidaiyal and Ramana of Periyar Nagar, Aandarkovil – were arrested on July 29 and remanded to judicial custody.

Explosive materials and other materials, worth ₹18,000, used for the preparation of ‘country bomb’ were also seized, the release added.
