Four boys drown in two separate incidents in Visakhapatnam and ASR districts


In a tragic incident, three boys drowned in a pond at Gangavalasa village in Guntaseema panchayat, under the Dumbriguda police station limits in Alluri Sitharama Raju district on Sunday.

The deceased were identified as K. Susanth of Gangavalasa and, G. Bhanu Teja and Sai Kiran of Billaputtu of Kotangi Panchayat. All are aged between 10 and 14 years.

The boys went to the nearby pond to enjoy. However, they had gone missing soon after entering the water. Locals tried in vain to rescue them.

Dumbriguda police visited the spot and have registered a case. Further investigation is on.

In another case, a seven-year-old boy drowned at RK Beach near the ‘Victory at Sea’ point, in Visakhapatnam on Sunday.

The incident occurred when P. Santosh and his family went to RK Beach. His son P. Surya (7), entered the water and was reportedly swept away by strong tides.

D. Paradesi, a Home Guard from the Traffic Wing of III Town Police Station who was nearby, immediately jumped into the sea. Battling the powerful currents, he managed to reach the boy and bring him back to the shore. Surya was given first-aid on the spot and rushed to King George Hospital (KGH). However, Surya passed away while undergoing treatment.

Locals appreciated D. Paradesi for his bravery and quick response in trying to save the child’s life.
