Evening showers lead to waterlogging, slow traffic movement in parts of Hyderabad


Scattered rainfall lashed several parts of Hyderabad and its outskirts on Tuesday evening, resulting in waterlogging and traffic congestion across major junctions.

Among the affected areas were Shaikpet, Lakdikapul, Langar Houz and the vicinity of Medhi Function Hall, where water stagnation severely hampered vehicular movement.

Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Hyderabad, Joel Davis, supervised water clearance operations at key locations to ensure smoother flow of traffic.

In the Cyberabad region, waterlogging was reported at the Aramghar underpass, where drainage water was accumulated, adding to the commuter woes.

Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) were deployed at all affected locations to assist stranded commuters and facilitate drainage operations.

According to data from the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS), as of 7 p.m., Shaikpet recorded the highest rainfall of the day at 35.8 mm, followed by 23.8 mm in Langar Houz, 20.5 mm in Jubilee Hills, 17 mm in Gachibowli, 15 mm in Golconda, and 14.3 mm in Mehdipatnam, 13 mm in Attapur, 12.5 mm in Charminar, 12 mm in Rajendranagar, 11.3 mm in Serilingampally, 10 mm in Goshamahal, 9.8 mm in Malakpet, 9.3 mm in Film Nagar, 8.5 mm in Hayathnagar and 7.3 mm in Falaknuma.
