Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State vice-president K.P. Ramalingam on Saturday said AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami would decide on seats for alliance parties in the State.
Mr. Ramalingam met Mr. Palaniswami at the latter’s residence in Nedunchalai Nagar in Salem and invited him to the Lord Murugan conference, which is scheduled to be held in Madurai on June 22.
Speaking to reporters, Mr. Ramalingam said Mr. Palaniswami was the leader of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Tamil Nadu. In the 2026 Assembly poll, the main aim is to unseat the DMK government.
As leader of the NDA in Tamil Nadu, Mr. Palaniswami would decide on seats for the parties in the alliance. He will be the next Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, and in 2026, the NDA will come to power in Tamil Nadu, he added.
He said that the former AIADMK government was the first to demand the Nadanthai Vaazhi Cauvery scheme and the Centre accepted the demand.
In the first phase, the Centre has now allocated ₹990 crore of the project’s total cost of ₹11,900 crore.
“On behalf of farmers’ associations, I thanked Mr. Palaniswami for his attempt to bring this project. Desilting works were allegedly not carried out properly in the delta region and Cauvery water is not reaching tail-end areas,” he said.
