HYDERABAD
The South East Zone of the Commissioner’s Task Force, along with the Chatrinaka police, apprehended two individuals on Friday for illegally procuring and selling mephentermine sulphate injections, a drug commonly misused for body enhancement. A total of 423 vials were seized from the duo along with two motorbikes, two mobile phones, and cash amounting to ₹9,430.
The accused were identified as Mohammed Zuber, 30, a model residing in Falaknuma, and Veludandi Vinay Kumar, 43, who runs a medical distribution business in Chengicherla.
According to officials, the duo had been selling the injections without a valid medical licence or prescription, targeting gullible youth, particularly gym-goers, by falsely claiming the drug rapidly enhances body growth. Investigations revealed that Zuber was also addicted to the drug, sourcing it through Vinay Kumar, who in turn procured it from one Kapil Gautam based in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh.
A case was booked and further investigation is underway.
