HYDERABAD
Elected to the Telangana Assembly for the first time from Dharmapuri constituency, Adluri Laxman Kumar was born in Peddapalli on April 1, 1968, to Adluri Nagaiah and Lakshmi from the SC (Madiga) community.
Mr. Laxman Kumar began his political journey in 1982, serving as the NSUI president in Junior College Godavarikhani in erstwhile combined Karimnagar district.
Later, he became the NSUI General Secretary in Karimnagar district. He held several other positions in the District Youth Congress and also served as the Andhra Pradesh Youth Congress General Secretary from 1996 to 2001.
He worked as Chairman of Andhra Pradesh Scheduled Caste Finance Corporation, General Secretary of the APCC and Jagtial DCC president of Jagtial District. Mr. Laxman Kumar was appointed as the Government Whip later.
He won the ZPTC election in Dharmaram mandal and worked as the Karimnagar Zilla Praja Parishad Chairman from 2010 to 2012.
After the delimitation of Assembly constituencies, he contested as a Congress candidate from Dharmapuri (SC), but narrowly lost the election in 2009. He contested again in 2014 but lost by a slim margin.
In the next general elections in 2018, he contested but lost. However, he won the MLA election in Dharmapuri constituency with a substantial majority of 22,000 votes, defeating former minister and BRS candidate Koppula Eshwar in 2023.
