Rajanna Sircilla Collector Sandeep Kumar Jha on Monday inspected the ongoing demolition of some structures for widening of the road from Mulavagu bridge to Sri Raja Rajeshwara (SRR) Swamy temple in Vemulawada.
Amid police bandobust, the authorities carried out the demolition drive for the second consecutive day on Monday to ensure smooth execution of the land acquisition for the long-awaited road widening project.
The estimated cost of the road widening project is about ₹47 crore.
The stretch of the main road between Mulavagu bridge and the SRR temple will be widened to ease the traffic congestion in the temple town, popularly known as Daskshin Kashi.
As part of the land acquisition for the road widening project, compensation cheques have been handed over to more than 100 affected property owners so far, official sources said.
