Government Whip Adi Srinivas, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Minister Konda Surekha and others felicitating Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the government’s decision to implement 42% reservations to BCs in the local bodies.
Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy said the Telangana caste survey was the most robust and transparent model in the country, receiving high praise from national leaders, including Rahul Gandhi, who termed it a “role model for the entire nation.”
“This is a historic achievement and a victory for the Congress party. We are proud to be the first in the country to take such a bold and progressive step for the BC community,” the Chief Minister said while thanking the BC leaders who felicitated him on the bold step.
In a show of gratitude, Government Whip Adi Srinivas, TPCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, Minister Konda Surekha, chairpersons of various State corporations, and prominent Backward Class (BC) leaders from the Congress party met the CM to thank him for taking the landmark decision.
The Chief Minister reiterated the State’s commitment to Backward Class empowerment and inclusive approach adopted by the Telangana government in implementing this decision.
“We conducted the caste census with utmost integrity. People voluntarily shared their details, and we ensured that the data was 100% digitised and securely stored to prevent any legal or procedural challenges in the future,” he said.
Mr. Revanth Reddy pointed out that no BJP-ruled State has implemented such a reservation policy for BCs, exposing what he called the ruling party at the Centre’s lack of commitment towards social equity. “While we empower, others only promise,” he said.
PCC president Mahesh Kumar Goud, who has consistently championed BC rights, said: This is not just policy, but a step towards restoring dignity and rightful representation to millions.
