In a dramatic scene, a police constable attempted to nab an absconding accused by clinging to the side of a car for some distance in Thirupachur, Tiruvallur district, on Thursday (June 26, 2025). The accused, however, escaped after pushing the constable off the vehicle.
The accused, identified as Alaguraja, is an A+ category history-sheeter involved in various criminal cases. After coming out of prison on bail, he had been in hiding, and failed to appear for court proceedings. A trial court thereafter issued a non-bailable warrant (NBW) against him.
When the Zam Bazaar police were on the lookout for him to execute the NBW, they received information that he was in a village in Tiruvallur district. Sub-Inspector Anandakumar and Head Constable Sankar Dinesh set out in search of him. When they spotted him in a moving car, the head constable jumped from the bike he was on, onto the side of Alaguraja’s car.
Clinging to the car window, the constable tried to remove the key from the car but was pushed down by the accused who then drove away. The constable, who fell onto the road, sustained a minor injury. A video of the incident went viral on social media.
