As Halloween approaches, so does the anticipation of trick-or-treating; however, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is urging people to double-check their supplies, as two popular candy bars have been recalled over a ‘life-threatening’ allergen risk.On Monday, October 27, 2025, the FDA announced that a Michigan-based company is recalling some of its popular candy bars as they could pose life-threatening allergy risks. Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory in Ann Arbor, Michigan, has issued a voluntary recall for two of its candy products over undeclared nuts.
“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to cashews or peanuts run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the FDA said. The recalled products are Zingerman’s Peanut Butter Crush Full Size Bars and Zingerman’s Ca$hew Cow Full Size Bars. How to identify the recalled products
Shoppers are urged to check the labels of the candy bars they purchased. Zingerman’s Peanut Butter Crush Full Size Bars with Lot #174250 are recalled. These candy bars may contain undeclared cashews. So far, no illnesses or allergic reactions have been reported, the company said. The recall was initiated when Peanut Butter Crush Bars containing cashews were found in packaging that did not list cashews as an ingredient. Similarly, it was discovered that Cashew Cow Bars may have been distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. The problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes, according to the investigation. “Steps have been taken to ensure this problem has been resolved,” the announcement said.Consumers who purchased the affected candy bars should not consume them. If you have purchased the affected products, return them for a full refund at the place of purchase. For further queries on the recall, you can contact Zingerman’s Candy Manufactory at 877-632-9264.
