To tap the tourism potential of the picturesque Lambasingi, a popular destination well- known for recording single-digit temperatures during peak winter, the Alluri Sitharama Raju (ASR) district administration is gearing up to introduce ‘Caravan Tourism’ this year.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu recently flagged off the Caravan Tourism initiative, aiming to promote modern, mobile travel options for families and enhance tourism prospects in the years to come. In line with this initiative, officials from the revenue and tourism departments have begun surveying land along the Tajangi–Lambasingi route.
A two-acre plot has already been identified for developing a dedicated Caravan Tourism facility, which will provide scenic views for visitors.
Lambasingi Tahsildar, T. Ramakrishna, speaking to The Hindu said: “Taking inspiration from Kerala’s caravan tourism model, we have chosen a two-acre site where caravans can be stationed and have forwarded it to the Collector. The site will be equipped with essential amenities such as toilets, washrooms, a bonfire area, and a food court. Security arrangements are also being planned for the safety of tourists.”
He said that the facility also provides access to the nearby Tajangi Lake, view points, farms and a few other hotspots. “Our plan is to ensure the facility is ready before the tourist season, which is mid-October or November,” he added.
In addition to the caravan facility, the district forest department is exploring options to expand the tent-based accommodation facility, ‘Vana Vihari’, at Krishnapuram.
Currently, Lambasingi has a state-run Haritha Resort offering just 12 rooms, alongside four private resorts with limited capacity. With the growing demand for tent-style accommodation, authorities are planning to introduce a variety of tent-based cottages to provide tourists with flexible and immersive stay options.
