Farmer dies in wild boar attack in Kannur


A 75-year-old farmer was killed in a wild boar attack in Muthiyanga vayal in Pattayam panchayat, Kannur on Sunday (March 2, 2025) morning.

The deceased, A.K. Sreedharan was attacked around 9 a.m. when he went to his farm, where he was cultivating tapiaco, banana and other vegetables.

According to local resident, the attack was witnessed by people who rushed to the spot after hearing his screams. They saw the wild boar attacking him but were unable to save him. He sustained injuries to his chest, head and legs. Though rushed to the hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

The body has been moved to Indira Gandhi Cooperative hospital in Thalassery.

The incident has raised concerns among farmers in the region, who have long struggled with wild animal threats. Authorities have been informed and further action is underway.
