Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K. Pawan Kalyan has warned that the government would initiate legal action against YSRCP leader Peddireddi Ramachandra Reddy who is facing charges of occupying 77 acres of forest land illegally.

Addressing the Assembly on Tuesday during a discussion on the Motion of Thanks to Governor’s Address, Mr. Pawan Kalyan alleged that the YSRCP leader had grabbed this land when the latter was the Forest Minister. He said the YSRCP MLAs ‘behaved in an unruly manner’ when Governor S. Abdul Nazeer started addressing the joint session of the State Legislature on Monday.

Mr. Pawan Kalyan said that the State government had undertaken the laying of CC roads on a stretch of 4,300 km in the last six months, of which works on more than 3000 km had been completed. “The previous YSRCP government had laid roads only in 1800 km in five years,” he said.

The Panchayat Raj Department is putting in efforts to ensure road connectivity to the interior villages in the State.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the government was focusing on developing mangrove forests.

He said that the NDA government saved the Visakhapatnam Steel Plant (VSP) from privatization, with the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

“The State government is committed to completing the Polavaram project, which was neglected by the YSRCP government. Efforts are on to provide drinking water to all households in the State,” he added.
