NTK cadre demand shifting of dump yard in Dindigul

Naam Tamilar Katchi cadre on Monday submitted a petition to the Dindigul Collector urging the authorities to shift a dump yard located in Muruga Bhavan area. The 16.5-acre land could be used for some other public purposes, the NTK functionaries said. They also staged a protest in front of the Collectorate, pressing for the same demand.

All kinds of waste materials, including medical waste, were being dumped in the dump yard, posing a threat to the health of the people, they said. They also said plastic ban should be strictly implemented and an adequate number of sewage treatment and solid waste treatment plants should be established away from residential areas in the district.
