Congress leaders from the erstwhile Warangal district have been asked to put aside their differences and work towards the party’s victory in the upcoming local body elections.

A meeting of party senior leaders was held at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday under the chairmanship of Minister for SC Development and Tribal Welfare, and party in-charge for the erstwhile Warangal district, Adluru Laxman Kumar. Ministers Seethakka and Konda Surekha, MLAs, Corporation Chairmen, and other senior party leaders attended the meeting, which had gathered significance amidst complaints filed against Minister Konda Surekha and her husband, Muralidhar Rao by several party leaders.

However, party leaders claimed that they had focused only on strengthening the party’s organisational structure, filling nominated positions and local body elections. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Minister Seethakka said that the meeting had concluded on a positive note, with a decision to work towards strengthening the party. “No discussions were held on differences of opinion or disciplinary action among leaders,” she added.

A legislator said that they had decided to postpone filling up the nominated posts and appointment of the party district and mandal committees until after the elections, as this might harm the party’s winning prospects if some people who were not offered posts worked against the party’s interests.

Minister Konda Surekha said that such meetings are routine and provide an opportunity for leaders to air their grievances. She emphasized the importance of working together for the party’s success.
