The Ras Al Khaimah Tourism Development Authority (RAKTDA) is set to elevate its reputation as a hub for world-class sporting events with the launch of Jais Ride, a new cycling race on Jebel Jais, the UAE’s highest peak. Scheduled for 12-13 April 2025, this epic challenge will see cyclists tackle the legendary 25km ascent of Jebel Jais, renowned as one of the most scenic and demanding cycling routes in the region.
The race will take participants along the modern mountain road, constructed in 2017, which is celebrated for its smooth, winding ascent, dramatic elevation changes, and multiple switchbacks. Often featured in the UAE Tour, this route is a favorite among professional cyclists and endurance athletes. Jais Ride will feature strategic checkpoints and sprint segments, offering riders the chance to test their skills and endurance on this iconic climb.
Raki Phillips, Chief Executive Officer of RAKTDA, expressed his enthusiasm for the event, stating, “We are thrilled to introduce Jais Ride, a thrilling cycling challenge that allows participants to push their limits on one of the world’s most breathtaking mountain roads. This event underscores our commitment to positioning Ras Al Khaimah as a premier destination for outdoor adventure and sports, while showcasing the emirate’s stunning natural beauty and dynamic landscapes.”
Jebel Jais, standing at 1,934 metres above sea level, is a global hotspot for adventure tourism and one of the UAE’s most visited natural attractions. The Jais Ride event is expected to draw elite and amateur cyclists from across the UAE and beyond, offering them a unique opportunity to experience the mountain’s challenging terrain and breathtaking views.
Participants can register for the event online, ensuring a seamless sign-up process. Complimentary refreshments will be provided along the route to keep riders fueled and hydrated, and an awards ceremony will be held post-race to celebrate the top performers in each category.
Ras Al Khaimah has firmly established itself as a leading destination for sports and adventure tourism, hosting internationally acclaimed events such as the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon, the UAE Tour, and HIGHLANDER Adventure, the Middle East’s premier hiking event. With the addition of Jais Ride, the emirate continues to solidify its position as a global hub for outdoor enthusiasts and competitive athletes.
