Minister for Health and Family Welfare Ma. Subramanian inaugurated new civic infrastructure projects worth ₹4.5 crore in areas under Wards 139 and 142 of the Saidapet Assembly constituency on Wednesday.
Four years ago, the monsoon was a constant challenge in Saidapet. Now the stormwater drain works have been completed to prevent flooding in many parts of the constituency. He flagged off the demolition and reconstruction of old stormwater drains in Jaffarkhanpet, R.V. Nagar, and 69th and 75th Streets for ₹1.39 crore.
After drain works are done, road relaying will begin in areas like Reddy Kuppam and Bazaar Road, he told at a press meet. In Ward 142, the Minister laid the foundation for the construction of cement roads on Sambandham Street and Natarajan Street for ₹28 lakh, and for the development of a roadside park on West Jones Road at ₹20 lakh.
Civic works
According to a release, the Minister also laid the foundation for development works at the Sarathi Nagar bus terminus on West Jones Road in Ward 139, including the construction of a toilet and a waiting hall, at an estimated cost of ₹72 lakh.
Deputy Mayor M. Magesh Kumaar, regional officials, ward councillors, and senior corporation staff were present.
