MP’s son assaulted in wordy quarrel in Madurai


In a wordy quarrel over buying puja articles, an advocate Nishant, son of Theni DMK MP Thanga Tamil Selvan, was assaulted by a coconut seller at Mariamman Temple near Teppakulam on Tuesday. The police have picked up the coconut seller Samayamuthu and his son Manikanda Prabhu 25. The police said that Nishant had bought a plate of coconut, banana and betel leaves for offering to the presiding deity. A quarrel erupted over the quality of the articles and it became a scuffle in which the advocate suffered head injuries. He got treatment in a private hospital. Based on his complaint, Teppakulam police are investigating.
