A 23-year-old man from Chennai, identified as Kavin Kumar, has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act on charges of sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl from Kodumudi, whom he met on Instagram.
The police said they developed a relationship over social media, and the accused made multiple visits to Kodumudi to meet the girl. During one such visit, he reportedly sexually assaulted her. The incident came to light when the girl showed signs of pregnancy; when her parents asked her about it, she disclosed the details of the incident.
Based on a complaint filed by her parents, the Kodumudi police launched an investigation. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act, and efforts are on to arrest the accused.
