A 23-year-old man was arrested on Monday after he allegedly sexually assaulted a fellow female patient at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in north-east Delhi, an official said. Accused, Md. Faiz, a resident of Kachchi Khajuri, was admitted to the same ward as the female patient, whom he allegedly assaulted.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
A police team was dispatched to the government hospital after the incident was reported at the New Usmanpur police station, said the official.
“Up on reaching, the police found that a female patient admitted to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital was sexually assaulted by another patient in the same ward,” said a senior police officer in a statement.
