Five juveniles nabbed in connection with stealing mobile phone, bike 


The city police have apprehended five juveniles in connection with two different incidents of snatching mobile phones and bike that were reported in Taramani and Vyasarpadi.

According to police, A.Aditya, 21, of CBI colony, Perungudi was driving back home early June 15. As he heard an abnormal sound from below the bumper, he stopped the car on Rajiv Gandhi Salai near NEFT and checked. While he was checking, six unidentified persons who came on two bikes forced him to give up his car key and mobile phone. As Aditya raised an alarm, passersby came to his rescue and the suspects fled the scene. Based on the complaint, Taramani Crime Investigation Wing investigated and nabbed six suspects including three juveniles.

Three suspects- Mukesh, 20, Sankar, 20 and Srikanth of Perungudi were arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Three other juveniles were sent to the Government Home for Boys.

Two more juveniles were nabbed in connection with snatching a bike from a youth in Vyasarpadi. Police said the complainant Naveen Infant, 20, of Erukkanchery has been working at a mobile phone service centre in Burma Bazaar. On the night of June 19, Naveen was riding his bike at Kennedy Nagar, the two juveniles waylaid him and snatched the bike after assaulting him. Two juveniles were sent to Government Home for Boys.
