The ‘International Yoga Day’ was observed in the district on Saturday with the public participating in the yoga sessions organised at public places, schools and colleges.
Tamil Nadu BJP president Nainar Nagenthiran participated in the yoga session organised in a park at Thirumal Nagar in Palayamkottai along with the public.
“The theme of this year’s International Yoga Day is ‘One earth, one life’, which means people, by practicing yoga everyday, should ensure physical and mental health and achieve inner peace. So, everyone should practice yoga everyday to keep themselves and others happy,” Mr. Nagenthiran said.
The Tirunelveli city police personnel participated in the yoga session held at Armed Reserve Police Ground in Palayamkottai. Apart from the policemen, their family members also participated in it. A few hundred students and the public performed yoga in the session held at VOC Ground, Palayamkottai.
In Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Vice-Chancellor N. Chandrasekar, Registrar J. Sacratees, faculty members and students participated in the yoga session organised by yoga experts K. A. Leelavathy, S. Subramanian, E. Mahalakshmi and S. M. Adithya Saravanan.
