The amount of water discharged from Mettur Dam in Salem into River Cauvery for delta irrigation increased to 16,000 cusecs from 12,000 cusecs on Friday (June 20, 2025).
The dam’s water level stood at 113.58 feet against its full capacity of 120 feet. The storage level stood at 83.60 tmc ft against its full capacity of 93.47 tmc ft. Inflow into the dam increased to 16,341 cusecs from Thursday (June 19, 2025) ’s inflow of 6,829 cusecs.
Officials at the Water Resources Department said that due to the heavy rain in catchment areas, inflow into the dam increased. As the water released from Karnataka was expected to reach Mettur Dam by Friday evening, inflow into the dam would increase further, officials added.
