Man killed outside police station by two against whom he was about to file plaint

A 32-year-old man was shot dead outside the Muradnagar police station in Ghaziabad on Wednesday night, allegedly by the two accused against whom he was about to file a complaint. The two accused who shot dead Ravi Sharma at 11.45 p.m. had fired several rounds outside his house earlier in the day, and Ravi was on his way to the police station to lodge a formal complaint regarding the same, a senior officer said.

Ravi, a resident of Millak Rawli village, was rushed to a hospital but pronounced dead on arrival. The suspects, Monty and Ajay, who live in the same village, are currently at large. Ghaziabad’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said the body had been sent for post-mortem, and a police team has been constituted to nab the two accused.

Ravi’s father, Ravindra Sharma, said while they were waiting outside the police station, the two accused arrived on a motorcycle and fired at his son before fleeing the spot.

He alleged that “at least four officers” were present outside the station when the incident occurred, but none of the officers tried to chase the assailants.

The Ghaziabad police issued a statement on Thursday, saying the Station House Officer and two Sub-Inspectors posted at the Muradnagar police station at the time of the incident have been suspended.
