Fisherman swims to the shore after his boat capsizes, but dies

A 47-year-old fisherman, whose boat had capsized, died within minutes of reaching the shore in Tiruvottiyur on Wednesday.

The police said Subramani, a resident of Palagai Thotti Kuppam of Tiruvottiyur, had gone for fishing in a fibre boat early on Wednesday. On his way back, the boat capsized due to strong winds. Though he managed to reach the shore, he fainted.

A few fishermen who spotted him, took him to a private hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
