The Revenue department of Kerala has reclaimed 4.22 acres of excess land worth crores at Panamppilly Nagar in Kochi city after more than 50-years-long litigation.
The land, which fell under multiple survey numbers in the Elamkulam village, was declared excess shortly after the 1963 land reforms. However, the land could not be acquired after the owners resorted to litigation. Cases have been pending in this connection since 1973.
The land could be eventually acquired after the formalities were intensified at the instance of the Vaikom Regional Land Board chairman.
